Content Health
Knowledge bases don’t fail loudly — they rot quietly: a linked page gets deleted, a procedure goes two years without an edit, two people write the same doc twice. Settings → Content health surfaces that rot in one place, computed live from signals CompassDocs already tracks.
The signals
Section titled “The signals”| Section | What it flags |

| Broken internal links | Documents whose content links to a /doc page that no longer exists — readers hit a dead end. |
| Overdue reviews | Documents whose review cycle says they’re due and nobody has re-reviewed them. |
| Stale documents | Published, unedited for 180+ days, and on no review cycle — no one is even scheduled to notice if they’re wrong. |
| Orphaned documents | Published pages nothing points to: no backlinks, no related-document ties, not part of a page tree. Only browsing finds them. |
| Unread documents | Published over a month ago with zero views in the last 90 days (from analytics). |
| Possible duplicates | Document pairs whose openings are near-identical by embedding similarity — merge candidates. Requires semantic search to be configured; shown as not checked otherwise. |
| Poorly rated | Documents readers voted down: three or more “Was this helpful?” votes and mostly “not helpful.” |
| No active owner | Published documents whose author is no longer an active user — nobody obvious to ask when they need updating. |
Scorecards at the top jump to each section, and every row links straight to the document so you can fix, merge, re-review, or retire it on the spot.
How to use it
Section titled “How to use it”A practical cadence: open Content health once a month (or before an audit), work the broken links and overdue reviews lists to zero, then chip away at stale/orphaned content — assign a review cadence to anything worth keeping and retire the rest. The report recomputes every time you open the page, so it always reflects the current state.
