A helpdesk (Enterprise): an internal service desk for IT, HR and Facilities, built into the workspace. Employees ask in Get help inside CompassDocs, after searching your own guides, and follow each request step by step; agents work tickets in the desk, a workspace of its own that stays open in its own tab and installs as an app with push notifications in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave and Safari. Desk roles from Newbie to Admin, with a lead’s review of a newbie’s replies. Each team keeps its own office hours, holidays and reply targets. Workflows carry a request across teams, with approvals from the directory, conditions, routing by answer, hand-offs and a way to say a task can’t be done. Tickets are assigned by hand, in turn, by load, by rule or to whoever is on call; monitoring tools open and solve alert tickets; agents see contact cards from the directory, with VIPs marked; and reports are dashboards you build. Across the whole app, email templates are built from a header, a body, a signature and a footer, with a branded header and footer by default, and notifications gain workspace policies, digests and a full personal matrix. Policy handbooks: bring published policies from any spaces together in numbered sections with an introduction, for people to read as one, print as a paper copy (cover, contents, a page per policy and an acknowledgement page) and, with read confirmation, confirm as a whole with one statement and one optional signature. A handbook’s audience reads every policy in it, even in a space they can’t open, and each policy can be kept out of its space’s listings so readers find it only in the handbook. Policies gain In short points and an Applies to line, and the new Build handbooks permission lets a space run its own handbooks. In 1.18.1 the sign-in page’s quick links moved to a bar across the top of the artwork, level with the logo. In 1.18.2 the editor gets an SOPs filter and a handbook names what it holds (“4 SOPs”, “3 policies and 2 SOPs”), and the Claude connector can read handbooks, say where you stand and build draft handbooks for a person to publish; confirming stays yours, in the app. In 1.18.3 people who reach a policy only through a handbook are reminded, counted and linked into the handbook. 1.18.4 moves the editor to Tiptap 3, with documents stored exactly as before. A new home dashboard and quick links: every section is a tile, in two columns: what changed and what people read on the left (Latest in your spaces with a Following switch, Popular this week, Spaces, My training, Team compliance), the links and people that matter to you on the right (Quick links, My team, People this week), with a status strip under the greeting and Edit dashboard to hide what you don’t use. A directory you configure — every field is a row in a registry with a kind, ordered options (labels, aliases, colours) and a per-provider mapping; mappings compose, extract, fall back, read group membership or derive, and preview against real records before they save. Assistants are many-to-many and shown from both ends, views group by any field in the admin’s order, admins pin people, and Export produces server-rendered PDFs from presets (paper, logo, sections, footer) or “what I see” as PDF or CSV. Images that actually get into documents, over the Claude connector — add_image can now fetch an image from a URL server-side, copy one already in the workspace, and place it in the document body in the same call. When the picture only exists as something you can see — a screenshot pasted into the chat, which Claude receives as an image and cannot re-send as bytes — it hands you a single-use drop link instead. 1.0: the role ladder is gone — every access decision is a permission, held by a role, assigned to a person or group and optionally scoped to a single space. Custom roles now do exactly what they say on drafts, publishing, notifications and rosters, and the three legacy per-space grant tables have been folded into role assignments. Interface polish, three rounds — an editor that no longer discards unsaved work (Ctrl/Cmd+S, a leave guard, a Save button that follows you down the page), real in-app not-found and error pages, actions that were unreachable on phones and narrow laptops, a sidebar that shows where you are, a readable line length for document body text, dark mode without white slabs, one empty-state treatment across the app, and the workspace date, time and page-width settings finally honoured everywhere. Settings console, rebuilt — settings grouped by area with a keyword search across every section, one unified page header driven by a shared registry, shared form controls and toggle switches, save confirmations as toasts, and destructive actions moved into a separate danger zone.
