Shortcuts
Enterprise feature (new in 1.19.1,
helpdesk). See the Helpdesk overview.
Shortcuts are the buttons elsewhere in CompassDocs that start a request with the details already filled in (see Asking from where you are). Desk settings → Shortcuts chooses which request type each one opens. It needs the desk capability Helpdesk settings (Admins, out of the box).
| Shortcut | Where people see it |
|---|---|
| Report a problem with this page | Every document’s side rail |
| Ask about this policy | Handbook policy pages |
| Request access | A space’s address you can’t open |
| Report a broken link | Quick links and the Links page |
For each one, Opens offers:
- Automatic (the default): the rule 1.19.0 used, which picks a request type by its slug and category (the starter set’s types match). The menu names the type it picks today, such as “Automatic: Report a problem”, or “Automatic: a general request” when none fits.
- A request type of your choice, from the types that are switched on.
- Hidden: the button isn’t shown anywhere.
Save shortcuts applies the choices. Each shortcut still fills in where it came from: the page, the policy, the space or the link.
Rules worth knowing
Section titled “Rules worth knowing”- Request access only offers request types that grant access to a space, because only those may carry a space. If the chosen type’s workflow stops asking the space’s owner to approve, the shortcut falls back to Automatic.
- If someone can’t use the chosen type (it is limited to groups they aren’t in), their shortcut opens what Automatic would pick.
- A type that was switched off or deleted shows as “(no longer offered)” or “A request type that was deleted”. Choose another one.
